St Bartholomew & Hollow Way Medical Practice
St Bartholomew’s Medical Centre was originally established in 1990 to provide care and services to the local community. In 2019 it took over the running of the Lake Street Practice and most recently in 2024 St Bartholomew’s Medical Centre merged with Hollow Way Medical Centre, further expanding the practice reach and the services it can provide to the local community. Prior to the merger, both centres had long hisotryies of offering healthcare services in oxford. The merger aims to streamline services and improve patient care by combining resources, facilities, and medical expertise from both practices. It also provides the platform for a more integrated approach to healthcare delivery, offering a wider range of services under one umbrella.
Following the merger of St Bartholomew's Medical Centre with Hollow Way Medical Centre in 2024, the newly expanded practice became large enough to operate as its own Primary Care Network (SPIRES PCN). PCNs are groups of GP practices that work collaboratively to offer enhanced services and improve patient care in a particular area. This has allowed the practice to recruit specifically for our patients need.
St Bartholomew & Hollow Way Medical Practice places an emphasis on training and education. There are usually several students on site which include medical, nursing, midwifery, and pharmacy students. We also have GP trainees who are fully qualified doctors in their last year or so of training to become a GP. We have a fantastic research team working towards providing better health outcomes and standards for our patients.
We are delighted to have an active patient participation group and are very thankful for the support and ideas that they provide.
