Travel Vaccination Advice
If you're planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world. See the GP and a private travel clinic at least 4 to 8 weeks before you're due to travel. Some vaccines need to be given well in advance to allow your body to develop immunity.
You can find out which vaccinations are necessary or recommended for the areas you'll be visiting on these websites:
To ensure you get all the information you may need regarding vaccines that are not available through the NHS and to ensure you are able to make an informed decision on whether to get them or not. We ask all our patients to have a private assessment with a travel clinic. There are several in Oxford.
- Oxford Travel Clinic: Headington. Telephone: 01865 766 994
- Woodstock Road Chemist Vaccine & Travel: City Centre. Telephone: 01865 515 226
- Allied Pharmacy: Cowley. Telephone: 01865 777 089
- Boots Travel & Health Advice Service. Contact them online
This assessment can be done over the phone and should be done prior to visiting the GP surgery to receive the vaccines provided by the NHS. Since we are not able to advise on private vaccines be aware we might turn you away if you haven’t had a private assessment prior to your appointment with us.
The vaccines we offer at the GP practice are:
- Given as a combined Diphtheria/Tetanus/Polio
- Typhoid
- Hepatitis A
